have we been up to in..
2004 - 2005
24-12-2004 After leaving Erve Veldink we
spend two weeks looking after my parents house who are on holiday. A
great chance to sort out how we are going to continue. We dont want to
give up our dream of living differently and we love the freedom we got
to make that happen now. We contacted Ecolonie in France again and we
were very welcome. So at the end of the week we are sailing south.
06-12-2004 We left England because we couldnt find a community we
could stay in for the rest of the year.We were also getting a bit tired
of all the traveling and adjusting. We decided to spend the rest of the
year in a community in Holland called Erve
Veldink. The community is in a proces of starting with new
members and we wanted to see if it was something for us. We also had
a chance to deal with the experiences we had in the last three monthes
and get a rest.
02-12-2004 We are staying at the Beechhill
Community in the south of England in the county of Devon, just east
of the famous Dartmoor national park. The community lives in a old manor
on top of a hill. The community consists of 12 people who are living
together. Working is something that they do outside in individual jobs.
Mostly they have parttime jobs with time left to spend in the community
for activities in the community like work in the gardens. At the end
of this week we are going to move to Holland to look at a community in
progress somewhere in the east of Holland.
24-11-2004 We had a good week at Monkton
Wyld Court (see report ) and
today we left to the Beechhill community. On our way we stopped at the Magdalen
Project what seems to be an living environment education project.
Very nice to see and a inspiration for us.
20-11-2004 After a short brainstorm in the north of Schotland we
decided to enjoy our freedom and visit other communities in the south
of England. On our way over there we can use the oppertunity and visit
a few and learn from them. We are heading for Monkton
Wyld Court near Charmouth. Its very funny being here because the
weather is so much warmer than the weather in Scotland. Im walking in
my sweater again and im not even cold, very strange, its near december
and the trees still have leaves on left and right.
08-11-2004 After two months living on Erriad our stay commes to an
end. Im having continues astma and Anja has greater difficulties with
the place and the climate then we had expected. Time for us to look somewhere
else. We came to this discission after a weeks holiday in the north of
Scotland where we visited the New Bold
House community. Erraid wasnt ment to be our home after all we tried.
Our love goes out to the friends we left on Erraid and all the wonderfull
people we met on the island. Thank you all.
19-10-2004 Snow in oktober!! Today we saw the first snow on the mountains
just near to us, the winter is here now. The temperature dropped like
10 degrees C at the end of the day and that marked the end to an very
warm oktober month. The snow is just above somewhere like 500 meters
but it seems so near!
16-10-2004 It has been four weeks now on the Isle
off Erraid. Time to look back on these four weeks and to look ahead.
It has been a time of getting used to all the new ways of life. From
eating our own baked bread to using a outside compost toilet. Enjoying
the beautifull nature and the way the light plays with the landscape,
but also the horizontal rains and the darkness and the cold. Click here for

13-10-2004 Its Anja's birthday and we set for a days out. We went
to the island of Staffa, a volcanic
rock in the ocean. Special standing coloms and majestic views.Click here for

26-09-2004 Our first week of our new life on Erraid is
behind us and while most people in Europe are having a nice summersday
we are eating away a snotty week with horizontal rains. Its a real wierd
week of getting used to all the new things and landing on Erraid.
18-09-2004 We arrive on Erraid!
After a wonderfull drive through Scotland and a pittstop in a Youthhostel
in Crianlarich we are finally standing on Erraid. The return is very
warm and great to meet the people of Erraid again. Some of whom are guests
for a week and some who are here for longer like ourselfs. We'll see
what the time brings us.
15-09-2004 We are now moving all our last stuff to our parents houses.
We've rented a big van to make the tripp quick and got everything in
place with one ride. Spending the last days with our parents and than
selling our house on thursday, the new people arrived the same day and
at the end of the day, new people went into our house marking the end
of our time on the Barent Fockesstraat nummertje 12.
09-09-2004 Today busy with packing for our great
moving and saying goodbey at the local goverment where Ronald was working.
After four years of work a good ending with most collegues. .
08-09-2004 The house is getting
more emptyer every day now. Today the tv, my nice chair, our sofa's and
the dressoir were sold. Tomorow the washing machine, the piano and our
bed are being collected by the new owners.
07-09-2004 We sold all our furniture through the internet!
What a landmark and what a strange feeling it gives. Another step closer
to Scotland.
03-09-2004 Last working day at the local goverment in Joure for
Ronald.Next week there will be a say goodbey and that will be the end
of our working career for now.
31-08-2004 Evelien her last day to school
has arrived, saying goodbey to her schoolfriends and
to her teacher.
29-08-2004 Farewell party for our friends and family. The people
in our street are all comming and we have a great day.
24-08-2004 Nearly all our furniture is sold now!
15-07-2004 Starting to sell our furniture online.
14-06-2004 We've sold our house and can be moving in september.
28-05-2004 The first people to look to our house have arrived...
