To get a bit off distance whilest staying at Erraid we decided
to drive to the findhorn erea and visit New Bold House near
Forres. We are very welcome to stay in the guesthouse and
get to know the community a little bit in our stay. Here
is just a short summery off our stay.
In such a first visit one can only get to know the place
just a little bit. Its a great way of getting a feeling with
the place and the people. First impressions are very important
for us, mostly we are right about them in the end.
New Bold House is a community run guest facility. Part of
this is the renting out of the building for guest workshops
and conferences. The house also holds numereous rooms to
accomodate guest for workshops that last multiple days. The
members dont lead the workshops, they manage all the things
to accomodate them. So thats lots of work getting the place
ready, preparing koffie and tea and making lunches and dinners.
Its possible to spend the night in one of the rooms. We
spend the night in their biggest and most beautilful room.
It was great being a guest their. The whole building with
the guestrooms look in very good shape. They must spend loads
of time and energy in keeping the building in such a good
shape. Even the garden which is behind the main house is
in a very good shape. The community is living of these gardens
and serving food from here aswell. In the garden you will
find a nice atmoshpere with great eye for detail. Remarkable
appeltrees with ancient trunks give the garden a nice feeling.
The old garden wall was once heated with a big oven, you
can still grow peaches here.
The community is living in a seperate wing of the building. On Erraid
we mix with the guest by sharing houses, in New Bold House the community
lives in this seperate wing. In this way the community has its privacy.
A little peek in the kitchen shows a warm community life. The people
are very lovely and welcoming to us newcommers. We can very much invite
people to come over to visit New Bold House in Forres. The community
might be open for new members or volunteers.
